what can I use it for
The BinBase system works on GCMS data and does so not really care what your study is about. You can use it to compare 2 samples against each other or 2k samples. After all it's just data.
So over all the BinBase gives you a way to analyze a sample and connect this sample to meta informations to allow custom queries and find similar samples.
you can use the system to compare particular metabolites change over the time of an experiment.
can be used to "watch" compounds in routine analysis of analytical samples. The BinBase is a little bit of an overkill for this particular problem, since it shines in highly complex samples with several hundred peaks. From our experience with analytical chemistry you are only looking for on or two compounds in a sample.
in this approach you want to have a database with as many compounds and samples possible. This is particular useful with meta informations since it allows you to analyze a sample and get results back like
To make this work you need to provide the meta informations to each sample and need to adapt the system to your particular used system.
